Photosynthesis — Detailed Animation

Light-dependent reactions & Calvin cycle visualized step-by-step

Steps highlight specific sub-processes
SUN

1. Light absorption

Photons arrive at chloroplasts — excite electrons in photosystems II & I.

2. Water splitting (photolysis)

H₂O → 2H⁺ + ½O₂ + 2e⁻. Oxygen is produced and released.

3. Electron transport & ATP / NADPH

Electrons move through ETC → produce ATP & reduce NADP⁺ to NADPH.

4. CO₂ fixation (Calvin cycle)

CO₂ enters stroma, combines with RuBP → PGA (catalyzed by Rubisco).

5. Reduction & sugar formation

PGA reduced using ATP & NADPH → G3P → glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆).
